Senate of Pakistan (PNA)

Topic: Open Agenda

The Senate of Pakistan, also known as the House of the Federation, is responsible for representing the interests of the four provinces and ensuring that all federating units have equal representation. The main purpose of the Senate is to balance provincial inequality in the National Assembly, giving equal representation to all federating units. The Senate makes parliamentary bills into laws, exercises exclusive powers not granted to the National Assembly, and acts as a continuing chamber, not subject to dissolution.

Additionally, the Senate elects the President of Pakistan, along with the National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies, and has the power to remove or impeach the President through a resolution. In case of a vacancy or incapacity, the Senate fills the office of the President. These roles ensure that the Senate plays a vital part in Pakistan’s legislative process and federal system, representing the interests of all provinces and maintaining the balance of power. At JTMUN The Tenth Gambit, the Senate of Pakistan will take on the mandate of resolving various issues pertaining to Pakistan’s Atomic Policy, Media Freedom and Foreign Policy, turning related parliamentary bills into laws.
