Gentleman's Code
Introduction
JTMUN requires participants to maintain a high standard of behaviour and decorum in order to ensure that the conference is productive, efficient, and respectful. For nearly a decade, the JTMUN Model UN Society (JTMUN) has been at the forefront of innovation in the Model UN platform. However, our focus on introducing new ideas to our conferences has led us to overlook the fundamental purpose of Model-UN - to instil a sense of responsibility and empower young leaders to create positive change. Such change must be driven by empathy, compassion, understanding, and diplomacy, rather than a relentless pursuit of competition and awards. Regrettably, we have failed to fully recognize the unique opportunity that JTMUN provides for delegates from diverse backgrounds to come together and appreciate our cultural diversity.
The "Gentlemen's code" is more than an abstract concept, it is a guiding vision that should inform the behaviour of every delegate both inside and outside of the committee. The code espouses the importance of meeting new people with genuine enthusiasm, presenting arguments in an ambassadorial and dignified manner, and deriving the utmost enjoyment from the JTMUN experience. By embodying the "Gentlemen's code," we can achieve a true world model that accurately represents the United Nations. We, therefore, urge all delegates to approach JTMUN's 9th edition with a fresh perspective, striving for effective conversation and debate, while integrating the "Gentlemen's code" into their conduct. Let us propagate this spirit in the most effective way possible, making JTMUN 9th edition an unforgettable conference that distinguishes itself from all others. Here is a detailed formal code of conduct that should be followed by all participants in a MUN conference:
